Stanghow Community Centre and the "Britain in Bloom" Competition
Stanghow is a small East Cleveland village on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors benefiting from beautiful views across both moorland and the North Sea. Over the last 4 years since entering the Northumbria in Bloom competition they have won in succession a Silver Medal, Silver Gilt and two Gold Medal awards. At the Awards Ceremony which was held in Durham on Monday 14th September Stanghow won the Radio Newcastle Trophy for the second year in succession.
Everyone in the village has played their part in keeping the village looking beautiful all year round despite the wild weather which we often suffer, due to being in such an exposed position. We are also grateful to the parish council and Redcar & Cleveland council for their help in funding our efforts, as well as to the workforce for tending our verges and helping to keep the village clean. Knowing our efforts are appreciated locally as well as regionally and nationally spurs us all on. Thanks are also due to Windlebridge Garden Nurseries who have been our sponsors this year.
Stanghow has been entered in the prestigious Britain in Bloom competition this year and look forward to the results being announced on the 23rd of September.
